At a moment when creativity, industry and society make visible the lines that have always connected them, the theme of this edition proposes a careful reading of what is built through accumulation, continuity and proximity, and of how actions repeated over time produce structural change.

The concept of Pebbling, rooted in digital culture and observed both in animal behaviour and in human relationships, describes the act of offering something in order to create connection. A simple gesture, charged with intention, that activates proximity, recognition and care. In a hyperconnected world, where digital flows bring minds closer while often intensifying experiences of bodily isolation, this minimal gesture gains renewed centrality. Technological mediation ceases to be neutral and becomes an active participant in the construction of relationships, influencing how we act, how we perceive ourselves and how we connect with others.

It is within this constant body of interaction that Fashion asserts itself as a deeply relational material and symbolic practice. We do not simply dress bodies. We operate within systems, cultures and technologies. Each object, each surface and each interface participates in a broader network in which human, machine, environment and matter coexist as active agents. ModaLisboa embraces this expanded field, understanding Fashion as a sensitive interface between bodies, productive processes, the city and time, and as a space where the experience of the other becomes central.

We operate within a sector where this logic of pebbling is easy to recognise. Local decisions reverberate across global chains. Matter, labour, technology and knowledge coexist within a delicate balance. Each choice integrates a wider relational field. The challenge lies in avoiding asymmetric accelerations, where technology amplifies differences or crystallises inequalities. Expanding the notion of relationship, between people, between bodies and objects, between humans and technical systems, becomes an ethical practice. In this sense, Fashion is a tool of relational care, capable of making visible and experiential the mutual dependence that sustains the system.

It is from this reading that the campaign for MODALISBOA PEBBLING presented by OMODA & JAECOO unfolds as a collective and evolving process. The first visual object now revealed results from contributions by the ModaLisboa community in Instagram comments, gathered and accompanied by Carincur and João Pedro Fonseca from ZABRA. Words, phrases, emojis and interactions began to transform a shared sphere that was initially neutral. This image corresponds to a first visible state of an ongoing process. Until the opening of the edition, the campaign will continue to shift, incorporating new participations within this publication and revealing successive configurations, in a continuous movement of listening and shared construction.

Between 12th and 15th of March, MODALISBOA PEBBLING presented by OMODA & JAECOO occupies Lisbon with a programme design that affirms Lisboa Fashion Week as a space where multiple forces of contemporary thought converge. It is also within this intersection that Lisboa Fashion Week positions itself as a context for work and economic development, where authorial creation, industry and business meet to generate value, knowledge and new opportunities. A space of visibility, experimentation and connection between Designers, brands, companies, partners and markets, where Fashion is understood as an inseparable cultural and economic activity.

With its epicentre at Pátio da Galé, the event also traces a strategic route through key cultural institutions of the capital, such as MUDE – Museu do Design and CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, proposing other ways of inhabiting the city. Proposals open to the public, with new formats, create moments of encounter and expand access to Fashion as a cultural, economic and social field. At the centre of it all lies the authorial work of ModaLisboa Designers, with collections that reflect the diversity of the Portuguese creative sector, robust, agile, free and attentive to the transformations of the world it inhabits.

MODALISBOA PEBBLING presented by OMODA & JAECOO thus asserts itself as a state of co presence. A place built through relationship, where different scales and temporalities coexist, and where the future of Fashion is worked through open, participatory and continuously evolving processes.

Without bodies, there is no system. Without relationship, there is no future.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ disabled_on=”off|off|off” admin_label=”Welcome” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||||false|false” da_disable_devices=”off|off|off” collapsed=”off” global_colors_info=”{}” da_is_popup=”off” da_exit_intent=”off” da_has_close=”on” da_alt_close=”off” da_dark_close=”off” da_not_modal=”on” da_is_singular=”off” da_with_loader=”off” da_has_shadow=”on”][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_4,3_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”8a327be8-7492-412f-993e-855520c01073″ width=”70%” width_tablet=”85%” width_phone=”85%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” custom_margin=”||||false|false” custom_padding=”||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_image=”off” background_last_edited=”on|tablet” background_enable_image_tablet=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/welcome_carlosmoedas.jpg” title_text=”welcome_carlosmoedas” force_fullwidth=”off” src_tablet=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/behen-648×969-upscale1.jpg” src_phone=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/behen-648×969-upscale1.jpg” src_last_edited=”off|desktop” align_tablet=”left” align_phone=”center” align_last_edited=”on|phone” admin_label=”Foto Presidente CML” _builder_version=”4.19.5″ _module_preset=”bbba922f-0723-48b4-bbed-e1276e096c40″ width=”100%” width_tablet=”50%” width_phone=”75%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Nome” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

CARLOS MOEDAS

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” custom_margin=”30px||0px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Mayor of Lisbon

ModaLisboa returns to the city between 12 and 15 March. As always, it returns by bringing to Lisbon designers, artists, industry professionals and all those who see fashion as a form of expression — a singular and distinctive form of expression, truly authentic. During those days, the city once again becomes a meeting point for that authenticity in fashion, an authenticity that is also at the heart of Lisbon’s identity.

The proposal of this new edition begins with its concept: Pebbling. It is a concept that speaks of small gestures that create connection. Small signs, small acts of sharing that form the foundation of any relationship. Like the expression that gives life to fashion, they are authentic gestures. In the life of our city, it is often these authentic gestures that help build the foundations of a shared sense of the common good. This is also what ModaLisboa has done over time: creating bridges, encouraging encounters and opening up new possibilities. That is what it does once again.

Secondly, there is the method — the way these small gestures come to life. Between 12 and 15 March, the small details that mark the connections between us are brought together through fashion. ModaLisboa does this by bringing together shows, conversations, exhibitions and experiences open to the public, gathering emerging creators and established names, critical thinking and aesthetic experimentation. Spread across several spaces in the city — from Pátio da Galé to our MUDE — the programme reinforces the idea that Fashion does not exist in isolation. It exists in constant relationship with culture, technology and society. Fashion is therefore connected through the small gestures it generates in relation to all the other areas that shape our lives. It is present in the many details that form our everyday experience. ModaLisboa shows us exactly this constant presence of fashion in our lives.

Finally, there is the impact. By opening itself to the city and to its people, ModaLisboa affirms Lisbon as a major capital of creativity, a global capital of talent. We are already a capital of innovation, we are already a capital of culture. Now we must also be a great capital of fashion. ModaLisboa is one of the ways through which we pursue that goal. That is the unique impact of ModaLisboa. During these days, those who live in Lisbon and those who visit will be able to see what our best talents create: new collections, new ideas and new concepts developed by the people who make Lisbon their home. We are a city of talent also thanks to ModaLisboa.

For this reason, the days between 12 and 15 March are not to be missed for all Lisbon residents. I will certainly be there, following what is best being created in Lisbon.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_4,3_4″ disabled_on=”off|off|off” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”8a327be8-7492-412f-993e-855520c01073″ width=”70%” width_tablet=”85%” width_phone=”85%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” custom_padding=”||||false|false” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_image=”off” background_last_edited=”on|tablet” background_enable_image_tablet=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/welcome_eduarda_abbondanza.jpg” title_text=”welcome_eduarda_abbondanza” force_fullwidth=”off” src_tablet=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/behen-648×969-upscale1.jpg” src_phone=”https://modalisboa.pt/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/behen-648×969-upscale1.jpg” src_last_edited=”off|desktop” align_tablet=”left” align_phone=”center” align_last_edited=”on|tablet” admin_label=”Foto Presidente Mlx” _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”bbba922f-0723-48b4-bbed-e1276e096c40″ width=”100%” width_tablet=”50%” width_phone=”75%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Nome” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

EDUARDA ABBONDANZA

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” custom_margin=”30px||0px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

President of Associação ModaLisboa

A campaign built together, a campaign that let go of authorship so every voice could be part of it. That was the starting point for the 66th Lisboa Fashion Week. With Carincur and João Pedro Fonseca from ZABRA, we turned an idea into a concept, and into a word that was not part of our everyday language. Together, we explored the importance of love, shared visions and the small gestures that so often go unnoticed.

So welcome to MODALISBOA PEBBLING presented by OMODA & JAECOO. With the Municipality of Lisbon, we shaped an event grounded in new ways of inhabiting the city and in a programme that strengthens the relationship between Fashion and society. The idea of pebbling offered us a new way of looking at what we do: actions built through accumulation and continuity, centred on the experience of the other. On your experience.

We stepped back and looked at ourselves from the outside in order to respond more clearly to what is expected of us: a Fashion Week that is human, strategic and open. We rethought access to the shows, reshaped the free entry programme, welcomed new partners and upheld the values we will not compromise. What we present is a Lisboa Fashion Week where Authorial Fashion grows through collaboration; where emerging Designers are truly supported; where formats of Fashion presentation are reconsidered; where every moment in the calendar has a clear purpose.

Choosing pebbling as our concept also made us more attentive to what lies beyond the product of our work. To the care with which we approach each task, and to the people with whom we share ideas, concerns, present moments and future ambitions. For that reason, I thank my team openly and sincerely, and extend that gratitude to all teams, to the Designers, to our new main sponsor, to our sectoral and institutional partners, to our sponsors, and to an ecosystem that continues to grow stronger. To all of you, I wish a wonderful Lisboa Fashion Week.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ disabled_on=”off|off|off” admin_label=”Agradecimentos” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||||false|false” da_disable_devices=”off|off|off” global_colors_info=”{}” da_is_popup=”off” da_exit_intent=”off” da_has_close=”on” da_alt_close=”off” da_dark_close=”off” da_not_modal=”on” da_is_singular=”off” da_with_loader=”off” da_has_shadow=”on”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.24.0″ _module_preset=”8a327be8-7492-412f-993e-855520c01073″ width=”70%” width_tablet=”85%” width_phone=”85%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” custom_margin=”||||false|false” custom_padding=”||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_image=”off” background_last_edited=”on|tablet” background_enable_image_tablet=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Agradecimentos” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” header_2_text_align_tablet=”center” header_2_text_align_phone=”center” header_2_text_align_last_edited=”on|tablet” text_orientation_tablet=”center” text_orientation_phone=”center” text_orientation_last_edited=”on|desktop” global_colors_info=”{}”]

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”af543a65-a510-4d5a-bd0e-f29b21297a1d” custom_margin=”30px||0px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

ModaLisboa would like to thank:

The Mayor of Lisbon, Eng.
