The Rui Os\u00f3rio de Castro Foundation<\/strong><\/a> (FROC<\/strong>) celebrates 15 years<\/strong> and marks this date with the launch of Caleidosc\u00f3pio<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(Kaleidoscope), a special scarf that, more than a fashion accessory, is a symbol of love, courage and creativity. A mosaic of dreams resulting from a project developed by a group of children and teenagers with cancer and the Fashion Designer, Filipe Fa\u00edsca.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The scarf is now on sale on the Foundation’s website<\/a> for \u20ac35 and proceeds go towards supporting FROC’s informative projects that support children with cancer and their families.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis scarf has a multidimensional vision and a look that is infinite, in the sense that we are seeing an octagon (the 8 represents infinity) which refers to this idea that every time we look the scarf we make different associations. That\u2019s why it\u2019s called a Caleidosc\u00f3pio\u201d<\/em>, explains Filipe Fa\u00edsca. It is \u201ca small square that can say much more than an entire collection\u201d. \u201cArt, drawing and love are fundamental contexts for the growth of children who are going through a destructive process. Art is very important to combat everything negative\u201d<\/em>, adds the Designer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we challenged the 12 children and teenagers to participate, we wanted to create a playful moment in a context different from their everyday routines, which would allow them to unleash their imagination, helping them to enhance their artistic side and express their emotions. The result was a pattern full of color that expresses the path these families share. This scarf is, therefore, much more than an accessory: it is a symbol of love, strength and the contagious joy of childhood, even when it is overshadowed by an illness like cancer. The sale of the scarf aims to raise awareness in society about this cause, at the same time allowing us to raise funds to continue developing our informative projects that support children with cancer and their families\u201d<\/em>, explains Mariana Mena, director of FROC.<\/p>\n

Actress In\u00eas Her\u00e9dia is supporting FROC in promoting the scarf and confesses that every time she looks at the Caleidosc\u00f3pio she sees a different scarf. \u201cA different story. First as an actress, and now as a mother, I had to learn to look at life and things with a new eye. And this scarf gives us that. This is kind of the story that we need to continue telling these children, that there is always something good, even on a day that may be less good or more difficult\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n
