TANT QUE LA TÊTE EST SUR LE COU

“Tant que la Tête est sur le Cou” begins in the mime play of the same name, by Claire Heggen and Yves Marc, 1978. Based on the concept of this piece, the deconstruction of movement and form was explored during the creative process of this collection.

On this capsule collection with Tintex Textiles, the boundaries and limits of the textile material were challenged, producing shapes, cuts, overlapping, construction and creation of surfaces, undoing knitted fabrics and transforming them into thread.

In line with Tintex’s sustainability values, and in addition to the use of the knitwear stock, what is considered waste was reused: defected polo collars; leftovers and excess from previous productions and orders; production tests, etc., for most part of the created pieces.

The traditional hand-printing technique of Madeira Embroidery was again incorporated into the creations, with the help of Bordal, a famous Madeiran House of Embroidery. Some of their old and historical drawings, as well as their special “blue ink”, were provided. This mixture was created in collaboration with the Laboratory of the University of Madeira in order to produce a more natural and sustainable paste.

Defying limits and borders, a new way of construction and exploring knitwear, while keeping the functionality and viability of the pieces, and the head on the neck.
