MODALISBOA OASIS, in co-organization with Lisbon City Council, will take to Lisboa Social Mitra, from October 6th to 9th, a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program of fashion shows and presentations.
At the 59th Lisboa Fashion Week, the Designers cement their commitment to creativity, which goes beyond the content of the collections and toots itself in performative diversity. With a calendar structured around the core of a Fashion Week — the shows — there are programmatic moments that highlight the fluidity between Visual Arts and Performance, adding to MODALISBOA OASIS the conceptual richness of contemporary transformation.
The first day of begins with a call to debate the current challenges of this creative industry. The Fast Talks, divided between a roundtable and a conversation that focus on topics such as climate urgency and technological proficiency, will be our starting point, with two panels of national and international speakers, to be announced soon. On the same day, MODALISBOA OASIS is the stage for the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) project, which aims to deconstruct social representations, stereotypes and discrimination about aging: Beauty Has No Age [Beleza Não Tem Idade] is the materialization of a continuous effort to promote a intergenerationally people-focused approach: SCML users and public figures celebrate the synergy between generations.
The news doesn’t stop here. ARNDES and Maria Clara, winners of the Polimoda and Tintex Textiles awards (respectively) in the last editions of Sangue Novo, debut at Workstation, and Fora de Jogo returns to the catwalk. Speaking of returns, Miguel Flor, President of the Sangue Novo Jury, delves into his Fashion Design archives and celebrates them with a contemporization of memory. Saturday, the 8th, will see the debut of Filipe Augusto on the LAB platform, of Buzina on the main platform — which Duarte joins on Sunday — and of Call Me Gorgeous, Luís Borges‘ accessories brand, on the ModaLisboa catwalk, with the launch of a new collection in a moment that (promised here) goes far beyond a fashion show.
João Magalhães opens the last day of MODALISBOA OASIS celebrating also the opening of his new studio, and Ivan Hunga Garcia positions himself at the opposite pole, with a final point: an artistic installation that lasts three days and culminates with the end of his “botanical clothing” concept. At 6 pm, the Salsa Jeans x Luís Carvalho capsule collection will finally be revealed to the public, as part of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the iconic Push Up fit model, that will be recreated by the Designer. Before making his debut in his own name and brand, Luís Carvalho began his career precisely in the Portuguese denim brand.
In addition to the Fashion Shows calendar — which will be livestreamed on Lisbon Fashion Week digital platforms — MODALISBOA OASIS will also have a parallel program of various actions open to the city’s public, to be announced very soon.
MODALISBOA OASIS intends, therefore, to convey to its audiences a greater dimension of Fashion: one that is much more than the product, which thinks and discusses the society that welcomes and drives it.
MODALISBOA OASIS. All that is left is to create the impossible.
