Talk: Oasification


When the crossing tests our collective limits, we bring to the conversation a transnational panel to debate the contemporary challenges of this creative industry. The climate emergency, the current methodology of consumption and a society in upheaval oblige us, demand from us, a united transformation, through education, innovation and activism.

Ana Tavares | CITEVE

Graduated in Chemical Engineering at FEUP, Ana started her professional career in a spin-off at the University of Minho, from where she went to the University of Leibniz in Hannover, Germany, joining a research group in materials for biomedical applications for two years. She led the sustainability department at Tintex Textiles for five years, focused on product and service innovation, ensuring process certification and traceability. This change legitimized Tintex as a leader in the sustainable development sector, having been recognized and awarded several times nationally and internationally. In 2017, she took over the coordination of the special interest group Green Textiles Club of the Portuguese Textile Cluster until January 2020. Until March 2021, she was responsible for Communication and Partnerships at Smartex, a startup that develops technology based on artificial intelligence for the detection of defects in the production of circular meshes. She is currently coordinator of the Strategic Agenda for Sustainability and Circular Economy at CITEVE, the technological center for the textile and clothing industries in Portugal....


Danilo Venturi | IED – Istituto Europeo di Design

Danilo Venturi is author of the book Brand Persona: The Four-Step Method. With a background in political science, he began his career in the music industry, moved on to pioneering e-commerce, concept stores, and worked for the lingerie brand, La Perla. As a fashion school director, he involved groups, brands, and institutions such as LVMH, Richemont, Gucci, WGSN, CFDA, and Pitti Immagine, as well as personalities such as Marina Abramovic, Alber Elbaz, Renzo Rosso, Waris Ahluwalia, Rick Owens, and Suzy Menkes. His educational model was described by Forbes as The Reign of Error. Danilo Venturi started his consulting firm in 2021, and after a break in Miami he returned to Florence, Italy, as director of IED - Istituto Europeo di Design, Florence....


Joana Duarte | Béhen

BÉHEN showcased in March 2020 at ModaLisboa. Since then, the brand has been looking for antique textiles all over Portugal. For the project, there are two primary values: reducing environmental impact through up-cycling, a practice for which the brand has become recognized, but also the social impact, through the search for the people who still hold the old knowledge. Today, BÉHEN joins forces with local authorities in the fight against the disappearance of textile crafts in a mission that goes far beyond fashion, and which was only possible to build thanks to the close relationship of the designer, Joana Duarte, with the embroidery and weaving practiced in the different generations of her family. In 2021, BÉHEN won the 1st Women's Entrepreneurship Award (AWE), awarded by the U.S. Embassy in Portugal....


Scott Lipinski | Fashion Council Germany

After executive positions in companies in the German fashion industry, Scott Lipinski has been working as Managing Director for the Fashion Council Germany (FCG) since June 2017. He considers the FCG as an interpreter between the industry and politics and ensures that the focus is placed on the economic and cultural power of German fashion with various projects, events, conferences, cooperations and studies. Fashion Council Germany is the patron to empower the German fashion and design landscape for a visionary, technological and sustainable future in a global market. Founded in January 2015 in Berlin on the initiative of national industry experts, the FCG promotes German design as a cultural and economic asset and supports young designers from Germany. In order to achieve this goal, the FCG focuses on Education, Sustainability and Fashion Technology as well as the promotion of interdisciplinary dialogue and networking. Therefore, the Fashion Council carries out essential lobbying work in politics, business and culture, aims for visibility and emphasizes the global relevance of German fashion design and production nationally and internationally....


Host: Namalimba Coelho

Namalimba Coelho (Luanda, 1976) has a degree in Law, a Master's degree and a specialization in Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in Paris, and additional training in Diplomacy/International Relations, Journalism and Luxury Brand Management. Since 2003 she has been working in culture, in Portugal, assuming the communication of several entities and projects. As advisor to the Berardo Collection Museum, since its opening in 2007, she has communicated more than a hundred exhibitions in collaboration with Portuguese and international artists, curators and institutions. Namalimba has also taken over the creative direction and curatorship of exhibitions and projects by African and diaspora artists, held in Lisbon, Luanda, Macau and Paris. She uses, as a creative signature, the acronym NAM x Non AlignedMovement, as a poetic weapon to develop artistic and humanist actions to give visibility to causes and themes related to Human Rights, combat racism and discrimination in all its forms, and challenge the borders of cultural dynamics....
