OPEN CALL: MODALISBOA OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR SANGUE NOVO COMPETITION

ModaLisboa, Sangue Novo

29 May '24

The ModaLisboa’s Young Designers Competition is back for a new edition, with the aim of capturing, training and rewarding the future of Portuguese Fashion.

The most visible side of Sangue Novo is its fashion show, with the usual opening honors of Lisboa Fashion Week. Industry professionals hope to see, in the first phase of the competition, in October, ten collections of revolutionary creativity, designed and created by a generation capable of charting the path for the future of the industry. But the young Designers competition starts much earlier. In fact, it starts now: applications are officially open, can be submitted until July 19th, and the full rules can be founded here.

This start of another edition follows the same process and structure as the previous ones: the selection of up to ten projects that will be presented in October 2024, mentoring and meetings with the panel of judges, verification of the achievement of the defined criteria — conceptual identity, innovation, sustainability. Sangue Novo is a safe place for experimentation, and error. It also facilitates the connection between authors and industry, with the textile partnerships established by Associação ModaLisboa with Calvelex/Fabrics4Fashion, RDD Textiles and Riopele.

The finalists of the competition, announced during Lisboa Fashion Week, will participate in mentoring sessions programmed by ModaLisboa with several industry professionals, whose objective is to add tools to the project to better work on the complex nuances of the contemporary fashion ecosystem. These sessions, in addition to meetings with the jury, aim to strengthen more environmentally, socially and financially sustainable business models, exploring innovative ways of thinking, producing, communicating and selling. In March 2025, the young Designers will return to the catwalk with new collections, and the winners of the awards for this edition of Sangue Novo will be announced.
