OPEN CALL: MODALISBOA OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR SANGUE NOVO

ModaLisboa, Sangue Novo

16 June '25

Until 17th of July, Associação ModaLisboa is accepting applications for its Young Designers Competition. With a renewed jury, updated prizes aligned with the current paradigm of the fashion industry, and the same commitment to consistency and continuity, the initiative continues to identify, nurture and inform the future. The full regulations can be consulted here.

SANGUE NOVO has historically been a safe space for creative and intellectual affirmation, designed for a new generation of designers capable of acting, transforming and shifting the centre of gravity in fashion. For this reason, it is structured with care, combining the freedom of creative expression with the time and tools necessary to mature projects — from multiple mentoring sessions to textile partnerships established by Associação ModaLisboa: Calvelex / Fabrics4Fashion, RDD Textiles and Riopele will once again provide raw materials to encourage more responsible collection development. One of SANGUE NOVO’s key missions is to build bridges between emerging design talent and an increasingly agile, open and tech-driven textile and clothing industry — but it is not the only one.

Maintaining its annual format, the platform reinforces and reimagines its two major prizes, to be awarded in March 2026: the winner of the ModaLisboa X IED – Istituto Europeo di Design Award will now be able to choose between two Master’s programmesFashion Design, in Rome, for a deeper exploration of knowledge and technique through a holistically sustainable approach; or Fashion Marketing, in Milan, to gain tools in market analysis, brand building and strategic implementation. Meanwhile, the new ModaLisboa X Burel Factory Award — a one-month creative residency with the heritage brand — aims to foster a stronger connection between designers and the preservation and reinvention of artisanal processes and materials. These are the strategic pillars of this edition of SANGUE NOVO: international education, responsible production, brand creation, and craft innovation.

Targeted at final-year students and professionals in Fashion Design, as well as young designers who have recently completed their studies and are starting their brands in Portugal, SANGUE NOVO returns with an unwavering commitment: to provide space for new voices, stimulating attention, technical skill and identity, while fostering an environment in which transparency allows new narratives to flourish.
