Curated by Marita Setas Ferro, WEARABLE ART – 3rd Skin (Lisbon Edition) approaches contemporary jewellery as an artistic practice rooted in the body. Jewellery, sculptural objects and wearable structures explore materiality, scale, volume and movement, bringing craft techniques into dialogue with artistic experimentation and processes drawn from Fashion, Design and the Arts.
First presented in Dubai by Double J Collective, the project takes on a new form at Lisboa Fashion Week through a different constellation of artists and works. What connects the two editions is an ongoing investigation into wearable art and the concept of the “third skin”: objects that extend and transform the human form when worn, altering silhouette and movement while opening up other possibilities for expression and identity.
Organic and industrial materials, traditional techniques and experimental processes shape pieces that move between wearability and the autonomy of the art object. Jewellery becomes something to wear, observe or experience, carrying memory, cultural references and visual narratives that expand its meaning beyond ornamentation.

AMANDA STUMPF
Amanda Stumpf’s work in contemporary jewellery explores the intersection of Fashion, identity and artistic expression, highlighting jewellery as a wearable dialogue between cultures and disciplines. Inspired by the architectural legacies of ancient civilisations, her pieces evoke the strength and resilience of structures that have withstood the test of time. Her jewellery serves as visual narratives that blur the boundaries between art and Fashion, redefining memory and identity.

ARMIN NAJIB
Armin Najib was born in Tehran in 1989 and is a Dubai-based artist working across sculpture, drawing, photography and wearable art. His practice is grounded in mechanical engineering, with attention to structure and magnetism, and approaches art as a mode of inquiry rather than illustration. His forms emerge gradually through experimentation and interaction, remaining open both formally and conceptually. He has exhibited internationally and his work is held in collections including CELINE.

CARLA_M
Carla Matos was born in Portugal, holds a degree in International Relations and studied jewellery at Contacto Directo in Lisbon. In 2019, she pursued further studies in Fashion Sustainability at the University of the Arts London. In 2021, she received the Prémio Femina for Merit in the Arts and was appointed a European Climate Pact Ambassador. In 2022, she moved to Paris, where CARLA_M. was one of eleven brands selected for an incubation programme at the Institut Français de la Mode.

HENAR IGLESIAS
Henar Iglesias revives forgotten techniques, blending them with a contemporary aesthetic shaped by her mathematical background. Specialising in featherwork, she merges art and craftsmanship, reflecting the richness of diverse cultures. Her work explores humanity’s relationship with nature and luxury, bringing these cultural perspectives into contemporary society. She traces vector fields onto the mosaic, guiding the direction of the feathers and transforming them into wearable art.

JOANA SANTOS
Joana Santos’s work explores the duality between contemplation and wearability, challenging the conventional relationship between jewellery and the human body. Through her textile jewellery projects, she investigates contemporary jewellery as an independent artistic object, existing beyond its function as adornment.

KOLOVRAT
Kolovrat is a Portuguese brand founded in 1990 by Designer Lidija Kolovrat. With a background in Film and Fashion, Lidija has developed a distinctive language shaped by deconstruction, urban culture and a dialogue with the Arts. Her work brings together Fashion, image, space and installation, exploring clothing as an object of expression and identity construction. This artistic dimension also informs her collection presentations, built around concepts that connect body, material and space.

NASIM JAVID
Nasim Javid is a multidisciplinary Designer with a primary focus on contemporary jewellery and a deep-rooted background in Persian art. Her creations combine natural organic forms and textures, Middle Eastern elements and the elegant curves of Persian art. Her jewellery brings together different textures and a contemporary aesthetic, celebrating the beauty found in flaws and irregularities within a society that often favours perfection.

NOURA ALSERKAL
Noura Alserkal presents Magic of the Scent as an intimate exploration of connection, one that resides deep within the human experience. Scent, a powerful trigger of memory, links us to people and places from the past, weaving invisible threads between moments and emotions. Incorporating materials such as Dkhoon or Bakhoor, her creations are both visual adornments and immersive experiences, blending fragrance and form to create a multisensory dialogue between body, memory and art.

OLGA NORONHA
Olga Noronha is a visual artist, Designer and researcher, with a BA in Jewellery from Central Saint Martins and a PhD in Design Research from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She is a curator at the Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza and develops an artistic practice that bridges science and art, combining technological robustness with material delicacy and reimagining the human body through sculptural objects. Her work is held in several public and private collections.

TAIBE PALACIOS
After earning her degree in Design, Taibe Palacios, a Designer, artist and maker, began her creative journey as an author and illustrator of children’s books. Her passion for craftsmanship led her to jewellery and, since 2003, she has created unique handcrafted pieces in her studio. Her interest in contemporary art jewellery led her to experiment with organic materials collected from nature, mainly seaweed from her native Chile. Her work has received numerous awards and is exhibited internationally.
