Fabricaal: Tempo para o Tempo documents the first six years in the transformation of a woollen mill with more than a century of history in Reguengos de Monsaraz. Through the lens of photographer Cátia Castel-Branco, the book traces a new chapter that began in 2020, when preserving this manufacturing heritage became the starting point for reimagining its place in the present.
Photographs, archival material, testimonies and other materials reveal a mill where preserving know-how does not mean keeping it unchanged. New patterns, a broader colour palette, new interpretations of Alentejo textile traditions and dialogue with other creative disciplines allow this knowledge to evolve as a contemporary practice, while skills passed from one generation to the next ensure its continuity.
With text by João Brito, creative direction by Pedro Figueiredo, photography by Cátia Castel-Branco and design by Joana Areal, the book follows the people, processes and materials that shape Fabricaal. Presented at Lisboa Fashion Week, it brings creation and production into closer dialogue through a living manufacturing heritage sustained by transmission, learning and experimentation.
