Lisboa Fashion Week returns for its 62nd edition under the motto FOR GOOD. ModaLisboa is already a unique moment in the life of our city, and this year it presents all Lisboners with a very strong and extremely important message: to emphasise the commitment of fashion and design to doing good for the city, for people, for the planet.
At a time when dialogue is sometimes so difficult, looking at others as someone to whom we have a duty of kindness, even despite all the differences that may separate us, is as challenging as it is fundamental. It’s by doing good, concretely, in our day-to-day activities, in the lives of every person we meet, that the world changes. This is how we build a community.
Design and fashion have played a fundamental role in this construction, which involves expanding the limits of human creativity, constant innovation and, above all, empowering individual and collective expression. Principles and values that we follow at the new Museum of Design and Fashion – MUDE, which reopens this year.
Sometimes our day-to-day problems make us forget the importance of beauty in our lives. Beauty is not circumstantial, nor is it a fluke. It is necessary for our happiness. It adds colour to our lives. That’s what ModaLisboa offers. It seeks to make our world a more beautiful place and, by making it more beautiful, a better place. It’s true that it doesn’t solve all the problems we have, but there’s no doubt that we become better as a community.
That’s the motto of Lisboa Fashion Week: do good by looking for beauty. It has so much meaning and is so urgent in our lives. It’s a mission that should be embraced by everyone.
I’ll be there, at Lisboa Fashion Week, waiting for you!

Doing good and doing it well. It sounds like a simple premise, a message so obvious that it often goes unsaid. But a commitment to positive action is anything but straightforward: for it to materialise, it has to be more than a mission. It has to be the basis of every gesture, operation, word and realisation. FOR GOOD was a motto that came to us as a result of the need to respond to a context in which we are bombarded with information, but it arrives fragmented, scattered and, all too often, contradictory. I’m talking about fashion, yes, but I’m also talking about society, the economy, culture and politics: all the dimensions in which fashion exists. And with all the impact that fashion has. On employment, on innovation, on freedom.
MODALISBOA FOR GOOD, co-organised with the Municipality of Lisboa, is an event based on a clear and direct message. We began by communicating it through 18 names who are as close to us as they are to this guiding line. And now we’re moving forward, adding more faces to these protagonists and to our core team at every step: the designers, the brands, the partners and sponsors, the project, production and backstage teams, the photographers and videographers, the journalists and, we hope, each and every person who visits us between 7 and 10 March at Pátio da Galé. To do good. Definitely.
