FASHION HOUSE
OCTOBER 2: 12 PM — 5 PM
OCTOBER 3 — 5: 12 PM — 8 PM
Palacete Gomes Freire
Free admission, with moments reserved for guests.
The FASHION HOUSE is inaugurated as a new project within MODALISBOA BASE. Conceived as the home of a global vision of Fashion, it emerges as a dynamic and relational space, rooted in the city and returned to the city, where different audiences intersect and recognize creation as a shared territory.
Its programming reflects this vocation for encounter. The FASHION HOUSE is the meeting point for Designers, press, key opinion leaders, and the community, transforming into a space of convergence where new forms of exchange can be rehearsed. A craft showcase brings together cultural heritage, sustainable practices, and technological innovation, demonstrating how past and future can coexist within the same gesture. A pop-up store dedicated to Portuguese Designers and brands extends the affirmation of national authorship in the market, while a Lounge opens space to prolong the event experience in an atmosphere of listening and proximity.
Balancing moments of free access with exclusive presentations, the FASHION HOUSE proposes a program that includes happenings, launches, and special events. More than a new venue, it is a statement about Fashion as a collective practice and a cultural force in motion.

A work crocheted in raised stitch by Maria Alzira and Maria Carminda Nunes, in Fajã dos Vimes, Azores. Promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Professional Qualification and Employment, through the Azores Handicraft and Design Center, the project posed a technical challenge, since the execution of letters and phrases in crochet is uncommon in this practice, which is usually associated with geometric patterns. Made of cotton and sheep’s wool, the piece reflects artisanal rigor and a design that evokes Azorean textile tradition, highlighting the singular talent of the artisans.

Created by IED students, the work transforms this perception of an infinite and ephemeral flow into a multimedia and multisensory experience. In the immersive space of a black box, fragmented images and sounds evoke the aesthetics of infinite scroll, generating disorientation, fluorescent nostalgia, and the urgency for new forms of belonging and inclusion.

MATILDE VIEGAS
The Fabric of Home
Exhibition
October 2: 12 PM — 5 PM
October 3 — 5: 12 PM — 8 PM
Free admission
Home is not a place but an ongoing practice, daily rituals building upon each other to create safety, belonging, and authenticity. These images weave home from the very fabric of life — intimate documentation spanning a decade that tells combined stories of relationships, rituals, and resistances. Printed on fabric, the photographs become domesticity itself: soft, drapeable, malleable, cocooning. Like home, they can be folded, carried, reshaped, speaking to the temporary and permanent, the inherited and chosen, the private and shared spaces where we become ourselves. From queer couples claiming domestic joy to children creating their own territories of belonging, from inherited gestures to chosen families, from the homes we left to the homes we built, these images celebrate home as active creation rather than passive inheritance.
