FW 26/27
In a continuous exercise of questioning the limits of normative masculinity, Ariana Orrico presents the menswear collection MACHO ALFA. Grounded in the understanding of gender as performance, the alpha male takes center stage. The collection explores this archetype which, like the king in chess, occupies a position of power sustained by collective belief in its importance: strong by status, yet one false move away from seeing apparent dominance turn into checkmate.
The FW 26/27 collection explores the tension between male virility and vulnerability, materialised through the strong use of leather, a permanent, traditional material, associated with virility, which in this collection takes a more fluid, fragmented, and informal character. The use of natural and deadstock materials situates the project within a logic of circular economy. Hand knitting, leather knitting, and patchwork operate according to zero-waste principles.
