Fábrica da Criatividade, in Castelo Branco, presents, until May 23, the exhibition “2112: Raw” by young Designer Duarte Jorge, winner of the ModaLisboa X IED Istituto Europeo di Design Award in the latest edition of the Sangue Novo competition.
“2112: Raw” immerses the public in a futuristic and dystopian universe, where artistic creation is revealed in its raw and unfinished state, offering a contemporary perspective on the creative process in fashion.
As the winner of the ModaLisboa X IED award in the most recent Sangue Novo competition, Duarte Jorge showcases unfinished prototypes from his award-winning collection. “2112: Raw.” is based on an imagined narrative set in a distant future, where faceless and enigmatic beings — the Anomals — carry the Cyberlight, a symbolic virus capable of reigniting the essence of life. Through this visual fiction, the designer invites a reflection on identity, transformation, and resistance.
The pieces on display are presented as sculptures in transition — prototypes covered in plaster, suspended between sketch and final form. In this space between matter and idea, Duarte Jorge reveals not only the product but the very act of creation itself — imperfect, fluid, and in constant flux. The exhibition frames fashion as a living language, going beyond surface aesthetics to stand as narrative, manifesto, and metamorphosis.
Duarte Jorge began his creative journey at the António Arroio Art School, specialising in textiles. He went on to study Fashion and Textile Design at the School of Applied Arts (ESART), where he is currently in the second year of his master’s degree in the same field. With a strong interest in digital tools such as CLO3D, he has been developing a distinctive aesthetic language defined by a predominantly monochrome palette and a bold, alternative, and sustainable approach.
