Following a highly successful run on several international stages, LACRIMA, a theatre production written and directed by Caroline Guiela Nguyen, comes to Lisbon on January 9th and 10th, 2026, with performances at the Grand Auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB).
The action is set in London in 2025 and begins with the engagement of the Princess of England, who commissions her wedding dress from a prestigious French Haute Couture house located on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.
From this exceptional commission, LACRIMA follows, over eight months, all the hands involved in creating a dress destined to make history. Under strict confidentiality clauses, the production takes the audience through three ateliers connected by work, craftsmanship, and secrecy: the Parisian Haute couture house, an embroidery workshop in Mumbai, and the lace workshop in Alençon. At the heart of this narrative are women and men tested by the extreme demands of their work and by inherited stories kept under silence.
Transforming the stage into an intense workspace, LACRIMA gives visibility to often invisible artisans and continually questions the limits between absolute dedication and self-destruction. Within the silence imposed by secrecy, the production explores the delicate balance between what destroys us and what allows us to endure.
