MODALISBOA BASE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN

ModaLisboa Base

30 September '25

MODALISBOA BASE kicks off tomorrow and runs until October 5, co-organised with the Municipality of Lisbon, supported by the Portugal Events programme of Turismo de Portugal, and made possible thanks to the essential contribution of sector associations, partners and sponsors.

With its epicentre at Pátio da Galé and a programme that unfolds across various venues throughout the city, the 65th edition of Lisboa Fashion Week sets out a week dedicated to reflection, creation, and experimentation, intersecting independent fashion, sustainability, technology, and cultural heritage.

The official kick-off takes place today at the Italian Embassy in Lisbon, with the IED: REPEAT THE ACTION show, showcasing the work of 13 young Designers from the IED – Istituto Europeo di Design network, proposing a reflection on repetition as a tool for transformation.

Tomorrow, the programme focuses on MUDE – Museum of Design, with the FAST TALKS and the opening of the beat by be@t exhibition. This season, the FAST TALKS, moderated by Rui Maria Pêgo, take shape as spaces for critical thinking and open debate with the community. Two key themes guide the conversations: Crafting the BASE: Reframing Heritage in Contemporary Design explores heritage and materiality as responses to the challenges of sustainability and innovation; Branding the BASE: A New Strategy for Independent Businesses focuses on strategies to strengthen the autonomy of independent brands in an ever-accelerating industry. More information, here.

Following the talks, also at MUDE, opens the exhibition beat by be@t, showcasing the outcomes of the third edition of the sustainability innovation programme for the Textile and Fashion Industry, led by CITEVE and BCSD Portugal. On view until  October 5, with free entry, the exhibition presents four circular and sustainable textile projects developed by teams of fashion designers and SMEs. Discover more here.

The 65th Lisboa Fashion Week is also a platform for debuts. The FASHION HOUSE, a new multidisciplinary venue with free access (and selected invite-only moments), opens on Thursday, October 2, at Palacete Gomes Freire. With its own programme, showcases focused on technology and cultural heritage, a lounge and meeting point, and fashion presentations by Roselyn Silva (Oct 2, 6PM), Ana Margarida Feijão (Oct 2, 7:30PM), Gandaia (Oct 2, 9PM) and Sara Maia (Oct 3, 3PM).

But the FASHION HOUSE is more than just an exhibition or performance space. The Lisboa Fashion Week’s shop returns with creations by ARNDES, Bárbara Atanásio, BÉHEN, Dino Alves, DuarteHajime, Francisca Nabinho, Isza x Sara Valdez, Kolovrat, Luís Carvalho, Luís Buchinho, Mestre Studio, Nuno Baltazar, Ricardo Andrez, Roselyn Silva, and Valentim Quaresma. In another room, Bazofo & Dentu Zona bring a manual screen-printing atelier straight from Cova da Moura, inviting the public to actively participate in customising their own garments.

Also launching on October 2, ModaLisboa na Avenida is a new initiative in partnership with the Avenida da Liberdade Association, extending Lisboa Fashion Week along this iconic avenue with workshops, talks, cocktails, and collaborative events with Lisboa Fashion Week’s designers in ateliers, shops, restaurants, and hotels — connecting diverse audiences and creating new meeting points. The programme runs through to the closing of Lisboa Fashion Week, repositioning the city as a space for mediation, idea exchange, and community building.

From 3 to 5 October, Pátio da Galé returns as the central base of activity. On October 3 at 6PM, the SANGUE NOVO supported by Seaside competition gives the spotlight to eight fresh voices in emerging design: Adja Baio, Ariana Orrico, do Cruzeiro SEIXAS Eva, ELIO, Inês Almeida, Mafalda Simões, Mariana Garcia, and Usual Suspect. At the end of the show, the five finalists progressing to the next stage of the Young Designers Competition will be announced. In March 2026, they will compete for the ModaLisboa x IED – Istituto Europeo di Design and ModaLisboa x Burel Factory awards.

At 8PM, takes place the first WORKSTATION DESIGN supported by Jean Louis David show, reinforcing the platform’s role in promoting new fashion languages. Francisca Nabinho and Bárbara Atanásio present their new collections with the key support of Jean Louis David. The evening continues with the shows by Alves/Gonçalves and 2B.

On Saturday, October 4, the programme starts at 3PM with Portuguese Soul by Apiccaps at Moldo Studios, and continues at Pátio da Galé with the runway shows by Gabriel Silva Barros and Mestre Studio (WORKSTATION DESIGN supported by Jean Louis David), Luís Onofre, Gonçalo Peixoto, Kolovrat, and Carlos Gil.

At MUDE – Design Museum, two exclusive presentations are scheduled: BÉHEN and Olga Noronha (in addition to this moment, Olga Noronha’s exhibition will be open to the public on 4 and 5 October).

On October 5, at 2PM, Constança Entrudo hosts a special launch at the new venue Castle Hi Hi Hi, followed by Nuno Baltazar‘s presentation at MUDE, at 3PM. At 4:30 PM, Pátio da Galé once again becomes the base for the runway shows: Çal Pfungst, ARNDES (WORKSTATION DESIGN supported by Jean Louis David), DuarteHajime, Valentim Quaresma, Dino Alves, and Luís Carvalho.

Lisboa Fashion Week reaffirms its role as a mediator between creators and the community, ensuring that the shows remain accessible both in person and online. All runway shows at Pátio da Galé will be livestreamed on Lisboa Fashion Week’s digital platforms and the RTP website, and projected at various locations across the city — including the MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC installation at Praça do Comércio, and multiple screens in the MOP network — transforming Lisbon into a shared stage for culture and creativity.
