ASSOCIAÇÃO MODALISBOA
ModaLisboa is a multidisciplinary project created in 1991 by the Associação ModaLisboa, in partnership with the Municipality of Lisbon, with the mission of promoting and developing Portuguese independent Fashion.
A founding member of the European Fashion Alliance (EFA) — the first transnational alliance of European Fashion institutions — Associação ModaLisboa leads strategic projects that highlight Portuguese creative capital, positioning Fashion as a broad discipline that intersects culture, innovation and entrepreneurship. Independent fashion is recognised as a driver of social change through its artistic diversity, heritage appreciation, support for emerging talent, and consolidation of innovation and technology as engines of a more agile and responsible future.
With a strong commitment to raising awareness around sustainability, inclusion and transparency, Associação ModaLisboa fosters the growth of Fashion in Portugal through partnerships with industry and ongoing collaboration with both national and international sector organisations, always aiming to amplify the diverse work of its designers.
ModaLisboa | Lisboa Fashion Week is the main project of Associação ModaLisboa and, more than a fashion week, it functions as an incubator and launchpad for emerging talent, providing training, visibility and support through platforms such as Sangue Novo, Workstation and LAB.
The programme of ModaLisboa | Lisboa Fashion Week adapts every season to reflect shifting social dynamics, cultural and creative trends, Fashion movements and aesthetic habits within its communities. It also responds to the evolution of Lisbon and Portugal, as well as international discourse, focusing on emerging topics that are relevant to shaping a collective future with innovative and sustainable impact for the creative industries.
Held over four days in March and October, ModaLisboa | Lisboa Fashion Week brings together fashion shows, talks, workshops, mentoring sessions and exhibitions designed for a professional audience — including fashion media, buyers, textile industry leaders, creators, cultural agents, students and future Designers, as well as the general public.
From the very beginning, ModaLisboa | Lisboa Fashion Week has promoted fashion as a multidisciplinary space, embracing innovation, technology, craftsmanship and cultural heritage, and promoting cross-sector dialogue as a key element for differentiation and impact. This foundation shapes the relationship between Lisbon’s identity and Fashion, contributing to the city’s growing international recognition. Lisboa Fashion Week is a regular presence on the global Fashion calendar, maintaining strong connections with international media and playing an active role in European organisations that engage with global policy makers.
In a spirit of continuity, Associação ModaLisboa develops a wide range of initiatives to support independent and qualified Fashion in Portugal, bringing together a diverse network of stakeholders — from the textile and apparel industry to Fashion brands, model agencies, media, showrooms, retailers, universities and specialised education providers, Fashion and textile associations, partners and sponsors. Through this ecosystem, it fosters a conscious voice for the Fashion industry and enhances the skills and visibility of its professionals, building an international image of Lisbon and Portugal as a hub of talent, knowledge, innovation and future.
