ALVES/GONÇALVES
Alves / Gonçalves presents fashion collections since 1987. In 1992, the brand joined the ModaLisboa – Lisbon Fashion Week calendar and later Portugal Fashion, marking the beginning of its presence at international fashion weeks: Paris, New York, Barcelona, London, and São Paulo.
Alves / Gonçalves’ work goes beyond fashion collections, with a strong artistic approach that extends to costume design for theater, cinema, and dance companies. Over the years, the brand has also developed notable institutional collaborations, such as the creation of the Alves/Gonçalves postage stamp for the Portuguese Postal Service (2008) and representations at Europália Brussels and the Portuguese Design Exhibition in Lisbon. In 2009 and 2010, it presented the exhibition “Alves/Gonçalves Atelier” at MUDE – Design Museum, in Lisbon, which was on display for three months.
In parallel, the brand has developed a series of projects in corporate image creation and uniform design for major companies such as Galp, Hotéis Altis, Fundação Gulbenkian, Vodafone, TAP, SATA, and TAAG, among others. Its diverse production also includes the creation of ceramics, jewelry, and exclusive accessories.
Alves / Gonçalves’ work is widely recognized and has received numerous awards. The brand has been honored with distinctions such as the Globo de Ouro for Best Designer, in addition to multiple nominations and prestigious industry awards, including the Nova Gente Trophy for Best Fashion Designer, the Look Elite Award for Best Collection, and the GQ Man of the Year Award, among others.
