MODALISBOA | LISBOA FASHION WEEK

From 7 to 11 October, Lisbon becomes a meeting point for the fashion community. Runway shows unfold across museums, public spaces and historic landmarks, while exhibitions, talks, studio visits and late dinners keep the city in constant motion. Designers, buyers, editors, photographers, manufacturers, artists and industry leaders all find themselves in the same city, crossing paths throughout the week.

Across the programme, new collections sit alongside contemporary craft, new materials and digital experimentation. Emerging designers meet established names. International guests cross paths with local manufacturers. Creative practice meets industry, and culture meets business. Portuguese fashion is experienced through the people, places and processes behind it.

For 35 years, Lisboa Fashion Week has introduced generations of Portuguese designers to the world while bringing international industry to Lisbon. Co-organised with the Municipality of Lisbon since 1991, it continues to create a rare environment where creativity, culture and industry come together naturally.

TALKS, WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCES

MODAPORTUGAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
7 OCTOBER
MAAT Central

Free admission, with mandatory registration (link available closer to the event)

The MODAPORTUGAL Conference brings together Portuguese and international speakers from design, manufacturing, education, research and public policy for a day of keynote talks and panel discussions. Designed to connect industry professionals, the programme is structured around four main themes — Talent, Commitment, Technology and Luxury — offering practical insight into the realities shaping independent fashion today, from building resilient careers and navigating European policy to technological innovation, craftsmanship and the evolving value of authorship. By bringing together perspectives that rarely share the same stage, the conference offers a broader understanding of how fashion is designed, produced, supported and sustained.

FAST TALKS
8 OCTOBER
MUDE – Design Museum
Free admission, with mandatory registration (link available closer to the event)

Moderated by Rui Maria Pêgo, Fast Talks features activist and creative Vítor Sanches, founder of Bazofo and Dentu Zona, two community-led projects based in Cova da Moura; Miguel Flor, founder of (re)Veste, a community initiative promoted by Centro Social de Soutelo in Gondomar that combines social inclusion, circular economy and garment transformation; and Portuguese actress and model Sofia Aparício, known for her social and humanitarian activism.

As fashion continues to redefine its place within society, questions of participation, responsibility and collective value have become impossible to ignore. Drawing on projects rooted in community work, social inclusion and cultural intervention, Fast Talks explores fashion’s capacity to generate lasting impact beyond the product, offering perspectives shaped by lived experience and everyday practice.

WORKSHOPS
10 – 11 OCTOBER
MUDE – Design Museum

Led by industry specialists, the workshops are designed for designers, founders and independent fashion brands looking to strengthen the long-term development of their practice. Across two days, participants will explore brand strategy, communication, business development and emerging models for independent fashion through practical sessions shaped by real industry experience.

Focused on the challenges of building and sustaining an independent practice today, the workshops create a space for direct exchange, practical feedback and conversations that continue beyond the classroom, connecting participants with peers facing similar questions and the professionals helping shape the future of the industry.

FASHION SHOWS & PRESENTATIONS

8 – 11 OCTOBER
Pátio da Galé, MUDE – Design Museum, Royal Treasury Museum.
Physical attendance by invitation only, except where indicated.

Fashion Shows and Presentations remain at the heart of Lisboa Fashion Week, unfolding across museums and historic landmarks. Established designers, emerging brands and the next generation of creative talent — including the Young Designers Competition — unveil new collections, reflecting the breadth of independent Portuguese fashion today. Throughout the week, editors, buyers, photographers, manufacturers and cultural institutions from Portugal and abroad gather in Lisbon, creating opportunities to discover new work, exchange ideas and build lasting connections.

This season reaches beyond its traditional venues with a series of site-specific presentations. At the Royal Treasury Museum, a fashion show is preceded by an exclusive visit to the museum’s collection, opening a dialogue between contemporary fashion, heritage and one of Lisbon’s most significant cultural institutions. Elsewhere, more intimate and performative presentations unfold across Lisbon, inviting audiences to encounter fashion in unexpected settings.

Livestreaming extends the programme well beyond the venues, with live broadcasts available on ModaLisboa.pt, Lisboa Fashion Week’s digital channels, RTP’s online platform, the MODAPORTUGAL installation at Praça do Comércio and digital screens across the city.
