ModaLisboa Base

25 September '25

In co-organisation with the Municipality of Lisbon, MODALISBOA BASE establishes itself as a cultural platform where Independent Fashion opens up to the city, inviting diverse audiences to engage in a collective act of sharing. Ensuring access means more than simply opening doors — it involves thinking of Fashion as a cultural and social asset, capable of generating dialogue, recognition, and a sense of belonging. Only through a wide range of activities — including exhibitions, talks, workshops, networking moments, parties, and performances — is it possible to enrich the ecosystem, broaden the creative community, give voice to everyone, and foster new businesses, thereby strengthening the sector with informed and multidisciplinary brands and creatives.

Within this framework, Lisboa Fashion Week positions itself as a mediator between designers and the community, proposing that fashion shows can also be experienced by all — both in physical spaces and across digital platforms, simultaneously. The runway shows at Pátio da Galé are livestreamed on the digital platforms of Lisboa Fashion Week and on the RTP website, and are also projected in public spaces through the MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC installation at Praça do Comércio, as well as across multiple locations within the MOP network, turning the city into a shared stage for culture and creativity.

beat by beat 03

On the ground floor of MUDE – Museum of Design, beat by be@t returns to Lisboa Fashion Week to showcase the materialisation of its third edition.
This collaborative programme seeks more sustainable and circular solutions to address the urgent and pressing challenges facing the industry, bringing together creatives and innovative textile companies in an exhibition to explore here.

Also at MUDE, on the 4th and 5th of October, Olga Noronha presents an exhibition resulting from research and an aesthetic study of landscape, form, and material. LaBscapes features site-specific works and mixed approaches, both sculptural and a series of Lab Paintings ©. It opens with a piece on the ground floor, serving as a gateway to the Designer, visual artist and researcher’s installation in the octagon space on the 3rd floor of MUDE – Museum of Design. More information, here.

modaportugal 03

From 3th to 5th of October, Praça do Comércio hosts SOLO E TEAR – From the Earth to Digital Weaving, a MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC installation that reflects the transition between tradition and innovation in the textile industry.
Regenerative agriculture, natural dyes and biodegradable materials are interwoven with digitalisation, automation and 3D design; centuries of artisanal knowledge engage in dialogue with laser cutting and traceability technologies. This circular and intelligent ecosystem — rooted in the wisdom of the land and enhanced by the precision of technology — serves as a metaphor for the Portuguese textile cluster, where ancestral practices and innovation come together to weave a future that is sustainable, inclusive, and deeply connected both to the earth and to progress. adidas sportino 03

But Lisboa Fashion Week is not made of artistic activations alone: on October 2, with free entry, the ADIDAS x SPORTINO ModaLisboa Kick-Off Party sets the tone for the days of runway shows ahead. Taking place at the Sportino Chiado store, the event brings together its creative ecosystem for a moment of celebration. It’s a party that symbolically marks the official start of Lisboa Fashion Week, channelling collective energy into the days to come — all information available here.

On the following day, October 3, the LISBOA FASHION WEEK AFRO PARTY, organised by Fourth Avenew and Cold Hearts, carries the night into the early hours at Botanica 111. This fluid dialogue between Music and Fashion will create an immersive atmosphere and a celebration of African Designers and Musicians.

OFF Lisboa Fashion Week, powered by contracoutura, returns with the aim of supporting emerging talent and building connections between international creatives and the local ecosystem. The full programme will be revealed soon here, but highlights include the Wide Shades Exhibition: “1st of the Month”, at Rua da Boavista 80, which brings together a group show and DJ set, featuring installations by Wesley Barros and Hana Vuckovic, ceramics by Patrícia Sousa, and a fashion archive showcase. On 2nd, 3rd, and 5th of October, the Pop-up @ Cyber Café presents emerging brands such as Chaos Kid, Inês Gordo, and Nexus Studio, accompanied by DJ sets and drinks between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. On October 4, the programme continues at Rua do Vale Formoso 21A with Brunch contracoutura convida, combining music and gastronomy to mark the opening of the new space.

fast talks base 03

The FAST TALKS of MODALISBOA BASE, moderated by Rui Maria Pêgo, are spaces for critical thinking and open debate with the wider community. This edition is structured around two main themes: Crafting the BASE: Reframing Heritage in Contemporary Design, with Guta Moura Guedes, Olga Noronha, and Isabel Costa, reflecting on heritage and materiality as responses to the challenges of sustainability and innovation; and Branding the BASE: A New Strategy for Independent Businesses, featuring Federico Poletti, Carolina Santos, and Mariana Matos, focused on strategies for the autonomy of independent brands in a fast-paced industry. Balancing tradition and technology, design and market, these conversations bring together diverse perspectives to reflect on conscious and consistent future models for fashion.
