ModaLisboa Base, Sangue Novo
On October 3, MODALISBOA BASE opens the stage to ten new voices in emerging design: Adja Baio, Ariana Orrico, dépaysement non-lieu, do Cruzeiro SEIXAS Eva, ELIO, Inês Almeida, Mafalda Simões, Mariana Garcia, and Usual Suspect.
Through these names, SANGUE NOVO supported by Seaside maintains its annual framework while expanding its scope with strategic axes that project new possibilities: international training, responsible production, brand creation, and innovation in crafts, implemented through new prizes. The ModaLisboa x IED – Istituto Europeo di Design Prize now opens two possible trajectories: in Rome, the Master’s Program in Fashion Design, to deepen technique and thought within a transversal sustainable approach; or in Milan, the Master’s Program in Fashion Marketing, to develop skills in market analysis, brand building, and strategic implementation. The new ModaLisboa x Burel Factory Prize proposes a one-month creative residency at the heritage brand, reinforcing the connection between contemporary design and artisanal processes, extending the memory of materials into new contexts of the future. Both prizes also secure representation, for one season, at Showpress, amplifying the winners’ visibility across industry and media.
At MODALISBOA BASE, five finalists will be selected by a renewed jury: Miguel Flor (Designer and Creative Director, Jury President), Joana Jorge (Project Manager, ModaLisboa), Anastasia Bilous (Fashion Editor, ELLE Ukraine), Federico Cina (Fashion Designer), Federico Polleti (Scientific Leader Fashion Marketing & Communication, IED Milano) and Filipa Homem (Creative Director, Burel Factory).
The contest is also built on backstage work that sustains the creative act: continuous mentoring sessions and essential textile partnerships, provided by Calvelex/Fabrics4Fashion, RDD Textiles, and Riopele, offering raw materials and encouraging more responsible practices in the development of collections.
More than a competition, SANGUE NOVO supported by Seaside is a territory of displacement and rehearsal — a critical and inclusive arena where a new generation of designers test the boundaries of fashion, shift its center of gravity, and propose possible futures.
