FAST TALKS

TECHNOLOGY, IDENTITY AND FUTURE

THURSDAY, MARCH 12. 5 PM
CAM – CENTRO DE ARTE MODERNA GULBENKIAN

Free Admission, subject to ticket collection (maximum two tickets per person) on the day, at the CAM box office, from 3 PM.

The collaborative programme between Lisboa Fashion Week and CAM - Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, is inaugurated by the FAST TALKS, which create a space for collective thinking around Fashion as an expanded cultural practice.

How can the industry we operate in embrace multiple cultural narratives without neutralising them? What role do we have, or should we have, in shaping identity in a world mediated by technology?

Fashion has always functioned as a sensitive interface between body and society, between concept and object. In times of transformation, it becomes essential to bring together voices whose practices cut across communication, contemporary art, digital experimentation, design and creative direction. This allows ideas, experiences and perspectives to accumulate and enter into relation, as in pebbling, weaving new readings of the present and rehearsing other futures.

damara ingles

DAMARA INGLÊS

Damara Inglês is a Creative Technologist and artist who tells stories through art, fashion and emerging technologies, creating immersive projects that fuse technology, future ancestral culture and the collective complexity of cyber identity. Born in Luanda, raised in Lisbon and trained in London, her practice brings together memory, innovation and intersectional creativity. Her conceptual framework, Cyber Kimbandism, establishes a bridge between Bantu cosmologies and emerging technologies, reimagining them as contemporary rituals of memory and resistance. Through this lens, she positions digital natives as the cave painters of a new expressive era, expanding the vocabulary of identity while populating virtual spaces with raw human emotion. She is represented by Jahmek Contemporary Art Gallery in Luanda, Angola.
