THE LAST TIME I HELD A BALLOON stems from childhood nostalgia and the way its memories endure over time. The collection uses the balloon as a metaphor for this stage of life which, due to its fleeting nature, inevitably slips away, leaving behind only a string that symbolises the memories and experiences that have shaped our identity and are enough to keep alive the child we once were.
Inspired by the Designer’s personal memories, reflected in the material selection and colour palette, the collection combines echoes of childhood with glimpses of old age, embracing the ageing process without allowing it to prevent us from reconnecting with our inner child, suggesting that the last time we hold a balloon may still lie ahead.
