SS 23

For SS23, Nuno Baltazar explores some of his most delicate and feminine codes, in new sophisticated but effortless and relaxed silhouettes. Demi-couture details are showcased in deconstructed looks, coordinated with casual and urban pieces. Oversized silhouettes coexist with three-dimensional details, jabot frills, loops and ruffles. Dry and airy textures in plain weave and organza contrast with structured fabrics of cotton twill or satin crepes, fluid and with a liquid touch. The colour palette also proposes the exploration of neutral colours such as black, khaki, cognac and cinnamon contrast with vibrant tones such as violet, different shades of pink, orange and green and fluor yellow.
With an exuberant visual narrative, South Garden is a collection that reflects the emotional and fantasy geography of Grey Gardens’ protagonist, the 1975 documentary that portrays the story of two American aristocrats, mother and daughter, both named Edith Beale, who lived in poverty at their decaying mansion in East Hampton. As a mirror of a parallel reality, the collection proposes to give body, volume and colour to Little Edie’s imagination. It is from the dichotomy between real and fantasy that the collection reinterprets and expands the codes and authorial identity of NUNO BALTAZAR.
