BÉHEN AND CONSTANÇA ENTRUDO AT LISBON DESIGN WEEK

Fashion, Design

26 May '26

The 4th edition of Lisbon Design Week takes place from May 27 to 31, bringing together projects by more than 150 participants across around 80 venues located throughout 11 neighbourhoods in Lisbon. The event once again highlights independent design, artistic textiles and exceptional craftsmanship, featuring the participation of ModaLisboa’s Designers Joana Duarte (Béhen) and Constança Entrudo.

This year, Fashion takes on a more prominent role through collaborations between Designers, artisans and architecture studios. Joana Duarte, founder of the Béhen brand, presents the installation “Behind the Curtain, Time Resides”, developed in partnership with Bordal, on display at the A Vida Portuguesa store in the Intendente neighbourhood.

Created especially for Lisbon Design Week, the work takes shape as a series of large-scale organza curtains that reinterpret motifs from Bordal’s historic archive of traditional Madeira embroidery. The experience is further enriched by the screening of a documentary audiovisual work by Matilde César, offering an intimate insight into the creative process.

On Saturday, 30 May, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, Béhen and Bordal will host a workshop dedicated to Madeira Embroidery, introducing the essential stitches that distinguish it as one of Portugal’s most emblematic embroidery traditions. The workshop will take place at Depozito (Rua Nova do Desterro, 21), with mandatory registration, here.

Constança Entrudo presents, at her studio, the outcome of a collaboration with the architecture studio DC.AD. The textures and patterns developed throughout her Fashion collections intersect with DC.AD’s spatial approach, giving rise to a system of modular surfaces that explores new ways of constructing, transforming and inhabiting space.

The pieces combine transparent acrylic modular structures with printed or plain textile coverings, creating plays of transparency, texture and visual depth. Conceived as “soft boundaries”, they can fulfil multiple functions — cladding, partitions, folding screens or standalone elements — allowing spaces to be configured flexibly and without permanent interventions. The interaction between light, colour and materiality enhances the sensory dimension of the pieces, while the possibility of integrating acoustic and lighting solutions expands their functional potential.

The exhibition presents three products that demonstrate the system’s versatility and adaptability across different scales, from domestic to commercial contexts. Visitors are invited to enter Constança Entrudo’s studio and experience these surfaces in use, within an environment that simultaneously reveals both the final outcome and the experimental process behind it.

There are more exhibitions, workshops and events to discover until May 31st. More information at lisbondesignweek.com
