MODALISBOA CAPITAL BEGINS TODAY

ModaLisboa Capital

6 March '25

The 64th edition of Lisboa Fashion Week starts today, co-organised with the Municipality of Lisbon, with a four-day programme combining design, innovation, technology, craftsmanship, activism and sustainability.

MUDE – Museum of Design will once again host the FAST TALKS, with a programme focused on the social, cultural, and environmental impact of the Fashion Industry. In addition to two conference panels, moderated by Rui Maria Pêgo, which address the cultural and social capital of Fashion, the event — designed in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Lisbon for the Italian Design Day — also includes a workshop with Matteo Ward and the screening of two episodes from the documentary series Junk.

Tomorrow, 7th March, Lisboa Fashion Week makes its debut at CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian with a multidisciplinary programme developed in collaboration that explores the intersection between Fashion and the Visual Arts: Three Dialogues between Designers and ArtistsAdriana Proganó with Diogo Mestre, João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira with Marta Gonçalves, Mikhail Karikis with Lidija Kolovrat — and a fashion presentation by Constança Entrudo.

From 8pm, the Fashion presentations return to the Sala do Risco at Pátio da Galé, starting with the second and final phase of the Sangue Novo supported by Seaside competition. After mentoring sessions with the jurors and developing new collections with the support of textile companies Calvelex/Fabrics4Fashion, RDD Textiles, and Riopele, the five finalists Dri Martins, Duarte Jorge, Francisca Nabinho, Gabriel Silva Barros, and Ihanny Luquessa will now compete for the ModaLisboa x IED Istituto Europeo di Design, ModaLisboa x RDD Textiles, and ModaLisboa x Showpress awards. The winners will be announced at the end of the show.

At 9.30pm, we welcome the exploratory projects of Inês Barreto — one of the winners of Sangue Novo supported by Seaside in 2023, now presenting the collection she developed in the Master’s Degree in Fashion Design at IED Milano — and Mestre Studio. The evening ends with the return of Alves/Gonçalves to the Lisboa Fashion Week runway.

On Saturday, 8th March, Sala do Risco will host the IED Graduate Fashion Show — under the theme “Nostalgia for the Future”, IED Istituto Europeo di Design presents the collections of 6 finalists from its campuses in Italy and Spain — and six renowned names of Portuguese Fashion: Carlos Gil, Luís Onofre, Kolovrat, Luís Buchinho, Ricardo Andrez, and Luís Carvalho.

On Sunday, 9th March, at 3.00pm, Portuguese Soul by APICCAPS makes its debut at MUDE – Museum of Design, with a presentation that consolidates the reflection on the intersection of design, craftsmanship, and responsible production. At 4.00pm, we return to Pátio da Galé for a programme of fashion shows, which also explore creativity, expertise, and sustainable practices: Nuno Baltazar, Bárbara Atanásio, and ARNDES on the Workstation platform, Valentim Quaresma, DuarteHajime, Gonçalo Peixoto, and Dino Alves.

The fashion shows of the 64th edition of Lisboa Fashion Week will be live streamed on ModaLisboa’s digital platformsModaLisboa.pt, Instagram, and Facebook — and also at RTP, at the MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC art installation, in Praça do Comércio, and on MOP digital billboards located throughout the capital.
