ModaLisboa Pebbling
The 66th edition of Lisboa Fashion Week begins today, co-organised with the Municipality of Lisbon, with a four-day programme that strengthens the relationship between Fashion and Society. A Lisboa Fashion Week where independent Fashion grows through collaboration, where emerging Designers are truly supported; where formats of Fashion presentation are reconsidered; where every moment in the calendar has a clear purpose.
At 5pm, the FAST TALKS inaugurate the second edition of the collaboration between Lisboa Fashion Week and CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, establishing a space for collective reflection around Fashion as an expanded cultural practice. In a conversation moderated by journalist Joana Moreira, the practices of Damara Inglês, Evy Jokhova, Federigo Gabellieri, Sónia Jesus and Tristany Mundu serve as a starting point to question and discuss Fashion as an intersection of Technology, Identity and Future. All information about the talk, ticket collection and speakers is available here.
Tomorrow, March 13, CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian will also host the presentation of Kolovrat’s new collection. With a performative approach, the presentation will take place in the Engawa Space with free admission — subject to ticket collection — and, after the presentation, the pieces will remain on display until 16 March.
From 8pm onwards, the epicentre of the runway shows will be Pátio da Galé, beginning with the presentation of the project be@t Inspired by Nature by CITEVE. At 9pm, the emerging creative platform Workstation Design supported by Jean Louis David will welcome the new exploratory projects of drionadream — making their debut on the platform after participating in SANGUE NOVO — as well as Francisca Nabinho and Çal Pfungst.
The day concludes with the second and final phase of the Sangue Novo competition. Following mentoring sessions with the jury and other fashion industry professionals, the five finalists — Adja Baio, Ariana Orrico, Mafalda Simões, Mariana Garcia and Usual Suspect — present their new collections, produced with the support of textile partners Calvelex/Fabrics4Fashion, RDD Textiles and Riopele, and compete for the ModaLisboa x IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, ModaLisboa x Burel Factory and ModaLisboa x Showpress awards. The winners will be announced at the end of the show.
The programme for Saturday, March 14, begins at 12pm with a private presentation of Béhen’s new collection at Brotéria. From 3pm, the Sala do Risco at Pátio da Galé remains the central axis of Lisboa Fashion Week, bringing together a broad set of presentations that span different generations, languages and scales of production: Bárbara Atanásio and ARNDES on the Workstation Design supported by Jean Louis David platform, Gonçalo Peixoto, Carlos Gil, Dino Alves, as well as a special moment from Portuguese Soul by APICCAPS.
The programme also extends to other locations across the city. Ricardo Andrez and Roselyn Silva will present at MUDE – Museu do Design on Saturday at 8.30pm and Sunday at 3pm, respectively.
On Sunday, 15 March, the Sala do Risco hosts the final five Fashion presentations of this edition: DuarteHajime, Luís Onofre, Nuno Baltazar, Valentim Quaresma and Luís Carvalho.
The shows at Pátio da Galé will be livestreamed on the Lisboa Fashion Week digital platforms, on the RTP website, on the artistic installation MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC at Praça do Comércio, and across several locations within the MOP digital advertising network in the Lisbon Metro (Alameda, Entrecampos, Cais do Sodré, Oriente, Marquês de Pombal, São Sebastião and Jardim Zoológico stations).
In addition to the Fashion Presentations, MODALISBOA PEBBLING presented by OMODA & JAECOO features an extended programme of public events. Through talks, installations, pop-up stores and urban broadcasts, this edition affirms Fashion as a relational and accessible practice, built upon the interdependence between creation, industry, technology and the city.
